Regional Excess Underwriters

Regional Excess Underwriters is a full service excess and surplus lines brokerage and general agent. We offer commercial coverages to agents contracted with W. R. Berkley Corporation member companies and select other agents and brokers throughout the continental United States.

Our Mission

To provide the agents of W. R. Berkley Corporation member companies with solutions in placing their unusual and high hazard surplus lines risk needs. We offer fast response, competitive prices and access to the leading excess and surplus lines carriers doing business today.

Company Description

Formed in mid-2008, Regional Excess Underwriters, LLC is a full service excess and surplus lines brokerage. We are positioned to enable those agents who are appointed by W. R. Berkley Corporation member companies to write more business. With offices in Westbrook, ME; Jacksonville, FL; Charlotte, NC; Chicago, IL; Des Moines, IA; Irving, TX; and Bellevue, WA, we are well positioned to address the needs of agents of W. R. Berkley Corporation member companies and select other agents. We place their surplus lines risks either within the W. R. Berkley group of highly-rated insurance companies or by drawing upon the resources of other quality insurance carriers. Regional Excess Underwriters has the ability to place business both as a general agent and as a broker and is licensed in all 50 states and Washington, D.C.

How Regional Excess Underwriters is Different

Regional Excess Underwritters does not assume risk. Instead, we are a broker that mostly serves the independent agents of W. R. Berkley Corporation member companies. We place business both as a general agent (GA) and as a broker, and have the ability to place business with carriers both inside and outside the W. R. Berkley group.

We offer responsive and personalized service, from an experienced staff, regardless of market cycle. All submissions are sent out promptly and our knowledgeable staff is always available to help meet our agents' needs.

Distribution

Regional Excess Underwritters has a surplus lines brokerage license in all 50 states and Washington, D.C. Our business is distributed through the retail agents of W. R. Berkley Corporation member companies, along with select other agents and brokers.
