Our Mission

Our goal is to be recognized as one of the most technically skilled and responsive reinsurers in Asia. Berkley Re Asia is responsible for all property casualty reinsurance activities in this area. We strive to promote productivity and long-term profitable relationships with all our distribution sources. We underwrite and provide reinsurance capacity on a proportional and excess of loss basis on property, engineering and casualty lines of business for clients in the Asia region that have expanding needs for risk- bearing capital, advanced risk management and selection disciplines. We provide our customers with reinsurance products written by a financially significant reinsurance company through offices in Hong Kong and Singapore. Committed to the region and our clients, W. R. Berkley Corporation in June 2007 opened a Beijing Representative office.

Company Description

The Hong Kong office opened in July 2006, with our Singapore office opening in December 2010. We are a branch of Berkley Insurance Company, a member company of W. R. Berkley Corporation, a Fortune 500 company listed on the New York Stock Exchange (WRB). Berkley Insurance Company is rated A+ (Superior) by A.M. Best and A+ (Strong) by Standard & Poor’s. Our production focus in Hong Kong is on the larger property facultative accounts, while the Singapore office has a special focus on facultative engineering and casualty business. Nevertheless, we entertain most general classes of property and casualty business, both facultative and treaty, either on a quota share or excess of loss basis. Our production network consists of reinsurance intermediaries, retail brokers and primary companies.
