Company Description

W. R. Berkley Insurance (Europe), Limited was formed in July 2003 as a London-based FSA authorized insurer. We are currently authorized by the FSA to underwrite business in the United Kingdom, Spain, Ireland, Norway, Sweden and Germany. We are also passported to write in other European countries on a Freedom of Services basis. In addition, we are authorized by APRA to underwrite locally in Australia via our Sydney office.

Other W. R. Berkley Corporation member companies that also write on the WRBIEL stamp include Berkley Professional Liability Managers, LLC (directors’ & officers’), Berkley Offshore Underwriting Managers, LLC (offshore energy business) and Berkley Re UK (treaty reinsurance).

Directors’ & Officers’ Liability W. R. Berkley Insurance (Europe), Limited specializes in providing directors’ and officers’ liability insurance to the small to medium-sized company sector.

General Liability We write employers, third-party and products liability coverages.

Medical Malpractice Our Spanish offices are rapidly becoming known as a leading provider of malpractice cover for risks such as doctors and private hospitals. In the UK, while we specialize in non-invasive complementary, supplementary and ancillary medical risks, we are always looking to expand our writings to the wider aspects of medical malpractice.

Personal Accident & Travel We have a strong team that underwrites a book of business that adds to and complements our existing client base. Concentrating on general UK and European business, the team are also recognized as specialists in the field of sports related covers.

Engineering and Construction We are regarded as having a very experienced team of market specialists to underwrite these highly technical classes on a worldwide basis.

Marine Hull and Cargo Underwritten out of our Norwegian office and responding to the needs of the Norwegian and International market, we have acquired a highly experienced team of local experts who are well known and respected in their market for their knowledge and service levels.

Surety/Bond This specialist class is written both in our German and Spanish branches.

Property Casualty Packages Written out of our UK, Norwegian and German branches and responding to their local markets, our experts are renowned for their ability to offer a high level of service and expertise for our selected broker panel. In Norway, to complete the client package, we also write commercial motor insurance, whereas in Germany we write motor fleet insurance.
