Berkley Surety Group, Inc.
Our Mission
Berkley Surety Group, Inc. seeks to provide exceptional returns to shareholders by applying a superior risk selection process. We approach each transaction with a healthy respect for the risk inherent in the surety bond transaction and a long range focus on generating consistent results.
Company Description
Our Home Office in Florham Park, New Jersey and sixteen field offices are staffed to service the surety industry across the continental United States. Our primary focus has been performance and payment bonds for small to mid-sized construction contractors. We have expanded our expertise to include support for environmental surety, traditional commercial surety and service contractors. Special emphasis is placed on providing a stable and responsive surety market for agencies doing insurance business with the W. R. Berkley Corporation regional units – Acadia Insurance Company, Berkley Mid-Atlantic Group, Continental Western Group and Union Standard Insurance Group.
How Berkley Surety Group is Different
Our culture is one of shared responsibility and accountability for our collective success. It is driven by open communication and shared resources with our agents and with each member of our skilled staff. This process is predicated upon a thorough and complete understanding of each risk, promoting a collaborative approach to generate ideas as opposed to a committee process that relies on consensus. This underwriting approach combines time-tested traditional guidelines with state-of-the-art technology to produce a timely and comprehensive response. We pride ourselves on providing a superior level of service required by our agents to ensure each customer is fairly and thoroughly evaluated for the magnitude and nature of surety credit requested.
We are deeply committed to making a positive contribution to the surety industry and to the acceptance of its products. We value the integrity of the prequalification process yet remain open to alternatives in the private sector to facilitate expanded use of the surety bond product. An important part of this commitment is prompt, professional and equitable claims service – this is an absolute priority and an integral component in the success of our facility and the fulfillment of our surety commitment.
Our people are second to none in the industry; our team brings a comprehensive level of experience and underwriting expertise coupled with the intellectual capacity and energy to effectively sell and service our products. Each is driven by the knowledge that long-term successful relationships require continuous attention, uncompromising honesty and plain hard work. They know that every contractor is unique and deserving of the time, focus and analysis required to fully understand its singular capabilities and needs.
